Andy Hill (BAF)
Andy started fencing in January 1973 and
soon after, joined Plymouth Fencing Club.
During his competitive career he reached the finals and last 16's of numerous opens.
He represented the South West region at the Senior Winton Cup and was the individual winner at the Excalibur.
His coaching career started in 1983 when he took over as head coach at Plymouth Fencing Club.
As part of the Great Britain Team, Andy has attended numerous World & European Junior & Cadet Championships and was the England Coach for the Commonwealth Championships in 2006.
His fencers have won over 50 British Championships. In addition he has coached 2 World finalists, a European Junior medallist and many pentathletes including Kate Alenby (bronze medal. Sydney 2000) and Heather Fell (silver medal. Beijing 2008).

'Maestro' Peter Barrett (BAF)
Peter began fencing at the age of 12 at Haverstock School in Camden.
Peter joined The Polytechnic Fencing Club in the late 70's and with coach Bela Imregi started his most successful competitive period reaching several open foil and epee finals and representing Great Britain at international competitions. Under the guidance of his coach Bela, Peter began his coaching career.
Leaving the 'Poly' Peter returned to his roots and was responsible as co-founder and senior coach of the Haverstock Fencing Club, one of Britain's most successful epee clubs.
After more than ten years as head coach at Haverstock Peter joined London Thames Fencing Club (LTFC). Peter's pupils, Cadet, junior, senior, veteran and wheelchair fencers, have won numerous national, international and Olympic medals.
Peter is currently the Great Britain coach for the men's under 20 epee team and has a Masters Degree in 'The Science of Sports Coaching'. |
